From Sweeping The Floor to Running the Store

Appliance Center General Manager Kenny Wanemacher started out sweeping the floors at our warehouse.

Now, 20 years later, he oversees all day-to-day operations at the area’s largest dealer of furniture, mattresses, and appliances. On any given day, you might find Kenny at any of our retail stores or back at his old stomping grounds at the warehouse. It’s possible you might even find him sweeping the floor if needed or on the showroom floor helping you find what you’re looking for.

The work culture at Appliance Center keeps even top managers involved with the everyday realities of serving our customers.  Here’s a picture of Kenny (on the left) with owner John Oswald at Appliance Center’s first 419 BBQ Bash this May.

Kenny says the best part about the job is all of the people he’s met over the past 20 years, customers, employees, and business partners. Kenny also enjoys the daily challenges of working in retail.

“Nobody fights harder for the customer than we do,” Kenny says. “As a small business, we build lifelong relationships with our customers. We always do right by them.” Some of those relationships have been in place since the Oswald family opened our doors 58 years ago.

Four kids keep Kenny pretty busy when he’s not busy at work. He enjoys spending time with his family and sports.

Kenny’s not the only team member celebrating a big anniversary this summer. We have employees reaching their 25th and even 30th year with the company in the next few weeks.
