Which Appliances Costs LESS Than 40 Years Ago?

The cost of living keeps going up, but you may be surprised that the cost of appliances has decreased over the years.

Let’s check out this Appliance Center ad from nearly 40 years ago.

    1984 ad

You’ll see microwaves priced from $208 to $367 in this Christmas themed-ad from 1884.

That $258 microwave would cost over $700 in today’s dollars. But, amazingly, these days microwaves start at just over $100, and you can still get a nice over-the-range microwave for around $268.

The GE Electric Range was priced at $598 in 1984. Four decades later, we still have GE electric ranges starting at that price.

Let’s go further back and check out the price of this refrigerator from 1964. That $449 side-by-side would come to $4153 in today’s dollars.
