When nighttime temperatures rise during the summer, it can be difficult to get a good night’s sleep in a bedroom without an air conditioner. But there are some simple steps you can take to make your nights more comfortable.
Shut the Blinds
Sun shining through the windows can heat your bedroom up, and your room could retain some of that heat overnight. To prevent your bedroom from heating up during the day, keep blinds or drapes closed during the day.
Chill Your Sheets
Try putting sheets in the freezer for an hour or two before bedtime. Or wet and ring out sheets, towels, or pillowcases. Place them in the refrigerator for a few hours, and then apply them to your skin at night. Placing cold, damp washcloths on your pulse points can be an especially effective way to cool down.
Try Some Ice
If you have a box fan, try filling up a bucket with ice and putting it in front of the fan. The fan will blow some icy cold your way during the night.
