In the year of Covid, more people are cooking and eating at home. Although we love our local restaurants, it’s never been easier to emulate the incredible taste of your favorite restaurant meals at home. Appliance Center can help take your home cooking to the next level with the widest variety of kitchen appliances available anywhere in Ohio or Michigan.
This article will take you through some of the latest kitchen appliances available and demonstrate a few techniques and recipes that can easily be prepared at home. Considering most families are busier than ever, these appliances will definitely fit your lifestyle. The products we have tested recently are the Green Mountain Grill wood pellet smoker, sous vide cooker, Frigidaire Gallery range with the new air fry oven feature, and a Weber Genesis II grill. Of course, all of these products are in-stock and available at any Appliance Center location.

For the main course, we will be preparing steak sandwiches made with a beef tri-tip roast. The first step is always to think about building some layers of flavor. After trimming any excess fat from the tri-tip roast; season it liberally with your favorite all-purpose steak seasoning. I prefer to use a basic rub with kosher salt, lots of fresh cracked black pepper, granulated onion, and granulated garlic. Next, it goes on the Green Mountain pellet smoker loaded up with Texas Blend pellets set at 225° for about two hours. This step is not to cook the meat, but to impart some deep smoke flavor. The next step is to put the roast in a large zip-top bag or vacuum-sealed package and then into the sous vide water bath for a 2-4 hour swim at 131°.

After the roast comes out of the sous vide it goes on a preheated Weber Genesis II grill just long enough to sear the outside of the roast. The grill should be as hot as it can get and you only need approximately 1-2 minutes on each side. After the roast comes off the grill and it has rested for 10 minutes it should be sliced very thinly across the grain for maximum tenderness. I like to serve it on a toasted hoagie roll that was lightly brushed with mayonnaise and then broiled in the Frigidaire Gallery oven. The final touch is to top it with your favorite cheese. I prefer a nice horseradish cheese or green onion cheese from any local deli.

For a side dish to go along with the steak sandwich, we will use the Frigidaire Gallery convection and air bake features to make some ranch-flavored steak fries. The first step is to preheat the oven to 400° in convection mode. Next, select baker-sized russet potatoes and slice them into wedges for the fries. Combine one egg with 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large mixing bowl and toss the potatoes until well coated. Next, sprinkle with 3 tablespoons of cornstarch and one packet of ranch dressing powder mix and gently stir. Place potato pieces on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes and then flip and bake for another 15 minutes. Now set the Frigidaire Gallery oven on air bake mode. Once potatoes are tender and golden brown remove from the oven and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

This meal is certain to be a crowd-pleaser with your family and packs a huge flavor punch. If there are any leftovers (which I highly doubt) the thin slices of roast beef make a fantastic lunch that surely will make your coworkers envious in the lunchroom the next day.
