When your oven doesn’t heat up to the correct temperature, it can be frustrating. Fortunately, in some cases, there can be a simple fix. Here’s how to troubleshoot:
Is it turned on?
A wise engineer once advised me to always check two things when something isn’t working - is it plugged in, and is it turned on? Make sure your oven is connected to an electrical outlet and that the outlet is functioning. If you have a gas oven, make sure the gas supply is on. Sometimes something as simple as turning the oven off and on can help get it working again.
Demo Mode
Many newer ovens have a special demo mode that allows retailers to show you the oven's functions without any actual heat. Check the documentation for your oven to make sure you haven’t accidentally activated that function.
Is the Door Shut Tight?
If your oven door isn’t doesn’t shut with a tight fit, that can allow heat to escape and prevent it from getting up to temperature. Sometimes a too-large cookie sheet or pan can prevent the oven from fully closing and cause the temperature to drop.
Heating Element Issues
If the first three fixes don’t work, you may have an issue with the bake element for your electric oven or the igniter for your gas oven. That’s when Appliance Center’s academy-trained service professionals can lend a hand.
