If your washing machine is making a lot of noise as it spins, that means there’s a problem and you’ll want to take care of it right away before there’s permanent damage. Here are 3 things to check.
Unbalanced Load
While it may be tempting to stuff as much laundry as possible into the washer to get the job done faster, this can cause the load to become unbalanced. It’s also important that the laundry be distributed evenly in the tub.
Your laundry needs room to move around in order to get clean. If your tub is packed, take some of the items out for a second load. If it’s not so full, heavy items like towels can still cause it to become unbalanced. Try redistributing the load in the washer.

Level the Machine
Your washer needs to maintain good contact with a level floor to work properly. If the floor is not completely level, there can be problems. If you touch your machine and feel a wobble, there’s a problem. You can also check with a level. If that bubble isn’t exactly in the middle, you have a problem.
Many washers have adjustable front feet that let you take care of the issues. Consult the manufacturer’s manual for your model for instructions on how to adjust the legs.

Mechanical Problems
If balancing the load or leveling the washer doesn’t solve the problem, it’s probably a mechanical issue. Problems could range from damaged bearings to a worn-out belt to a defective drain pump. Appliance Center’s academy-certified technicians are here to help.
