If your dishwasher isn’t doing a very good job of cleaning the dishes, there could be a surprising reason.
The problem could be as simple as the weather. When it’s cold outside, pipes touching the outer walls can get very cold, resulting in colder water.
The colder water means dishwasher cycles start at a much lower temperature which leads to detergent not dissolving properly and food sticking to dishes, glasses, and silverware.
Sometimes the dishwasher won’t even fill up with water because the pipes have frozen.
If your dishwasher shares the waterline with your sink, it can sometimes help to let the sink faucet run for a bit until the water feels hot.
