Using a clothes dryer seems pretty straightforward. You put wet clothes into the dryer, select a drying temperature, and push Start. However, there are a few simple things you can do that make clothes dry faster and come out of the dryer looking better.
Give Clothes a Shake
As simple as it sounds, shaking your wet clothes out before putting them in the dryer can make a difference. Clothes can get tightly clumped up in the washer, making it hard for the heat of the dryer to reach all the moisture. A good shake or smoothing out on a flat surface can ensure your clothes dry evenly and quickly.
Throw in a Dry Towel
If you have a few items to dry and you’re in a hurry, try tossing in a dry bath towel with your clothes. The towel will absorb moisture and can help clothes dry faster.
Clean the Lint Trap
Don’t forget to check your lint trap before you push the start button. A buildup of lint keeps the moisture trapped in the dryer with your clothing.
Shorten the Dryer Vent Hose
The dryer vent hose only needs to be long enough to reach the dryer, usually just a few inches from the wall. Additional length in the hose just means the damp air has to travel farther. You’ll save time and your dryer won’t have to work as hard when you shorten the hose.
